Introduction

On my DPS year, I applied for the LCC Mentorship Programme. This programme would match me with an industry professional that would help guide and advise me over six one hour meetings. My mentor Lili Eva Barta is the founder of GENERA LABS, and having closely worked with character artists for videogames, she would help me tailor my Linkedin and portfolio for my career- as well as prepare me for London Games Festival in the coming months!
Online Presence
In our meetings, we decided that a good goal would be to prepare me for the upcoming London Games Festival. Lili would help me better my portfolio, LinkedIn and CV as well as prepare me for the networking event itself.

Together we examined my artstation portfolio. I was given a sheet of good character artists to look at for inspiration and to include these things:
- UVS and PBR maps
- show process and concept arts, zbrush sculpts
- 3d to 2d
- What’s the story of making it?
- give characters different poses
- add tags to artstation posts
I was also given feedback on my linkedin:
- change banner to be more exciting
- talk about the length of your experience
- add cv and portfolio to featured post
- add game jams as experience
- write bullet points about internship and education
Business Cards
I asked Lili to help me create business cards for the London Games Festival. She suggested Canva to give my designs visual flair. She also suggested I make several designs, so that I can ask people to choose their favourite when handing them out- making me more memorable.
I designed soem cards and asked Lili for critique, she pointed out that I had too many font sizes that were distracting, and my cards were too ‘cutesy’ to be taken professionally. I made some new, more professional and visually appealing designs as a response to the feedback, sending one of them to be printed.
here are my final improved business card designs:

I also added a qr code, as Lili had advised me to create a Linktree.
I was also advised on how to approach people at LGF. I was asked to consider what studios and organisations I would be meeting and what roles I was seeking out. I practised presenting and explaining my artwork, so that I was prepared for questions and told to follow up after the event to stay in touch with the people i meet.
